"Steamship" is a shot that took more time to create than I would
have liked. I shot the desert road and clouds as separate images and printed
them on the same piece of paper. Next, I hung up my mom’s old steam iron from
monofilament in my garage where I lit it to match the background and reflected
a spray can illustration of clouds in the chrome. It was then composited by
carefully tearing the emulsion off the paper and spray mounting that photo on
the background. I then re-shot the scene with a fog filter to blend things
together, and burned in the shadow during the final print.
